There are direct trains from London Euston to Penrith

 

Coming from the South:

Take the M6 to Junction 41 and then the 4th exit signed Penrith. At the next roundabout (approx. ½ mile) take the exit signed Carlisle

After approx. 2.5 miles you will reach the village of Plumpton. In the centre of the village is a road to the right, signed Lazonby. Follow the road into Lazonby village – drive under the railway bridge and turn left after the Church – signed Auction Mart/Baronwood. Drive for approximately 3 miles. You will see a large sandstone farmhouse and farm buildings on your right. Turn left immediately before the house. Follow the road (you will start to see the lake on your left) for approx. 250 yards. On your right there is an open gateway. After approx. 100 yards, there is a turning to the left with a sandstone sign Abbot Moss.  Continue down the drive and park your car to the left of the house.

 

From the North.

Leave the M6 at Junction 42 and take the 4th exit signed Penrith A6. Follow the A6 for approximately 10 miles until you reach Low Hesket (watch out for speed cameras). Continue for approximately 4 miles until you see a turning to the left signed Eden Valley Mineral Water. After approximately 250 yards there is a turning to your left signed Armathwaite and Eden Valley Mineral Water. Drive past the Mineral Water plant (on your right) and keep your eyes pealed for the drive to Abbot Moss on your right. If you reach the crossroads then you have gone too far
